Prominent among those were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien and Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau.
The event was organised to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Fourth Revolutionary Base-Tran Hung Dao base or Dong Trieu Base (June 8, 1945).
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien highlighted the historic values of the two relic sites and Dong Trieu district’s huge potential to develop cultural and spiritual tourism.
The deputy minister stressed that Dong Trieu town and Quang Ninh province need to improve communication works to raise public awareness of protecting historical relic sites so the sites can become tourist attractions.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau confirmed that Quang Ninh province in general and Dong Trieu town would do their utmost to preserve and develop the high values of these relics as well as build strong links among a series of national relics in the area.
Located in Dong Trieu Ward and Hong Phong Commune (Dong Trieu town), Don Cao relic was built in 1896, marking the offical establishment of Dong Trieu's fourth War Zones. Some of Don Cao Dong Trieu has been destroyed. The remainders include houses of French soldiers, prisons, blockhouse systems and tunnels.
Meanwhile, An Bien Temple was built by the locals to worship the female General Le Chan, a native Dong Trieu woman, who made great contributions to the Hai Ba Trung (Trung sisters) uprising against invaders in 40 B.C.
These two historical relic sites are good places for Dong Trieu people in particular and Quang Ninh in general to learn about the historical traditions./.
