QNP - About 900 ethnic minority people at the three communes of Quang An, Duc Yen and Quang Tan in the moutainous district of Dam Ha were offered with medical check-up during three days from June 11.
Held by the Quang Ninh provincial General Hospital, the charity program aimed to give ethnic minority people active support to improve their health, education and household economy.
Under the program, hundreds of poor locals were offered with health checks, consultancy and medicine.
The medical team also gave the residents helpful advice on how to keep fit, protect the surrounding environment and avoid some poplular dieaseas.
Located in the eastern part of Quang Ninh province, Dam Ha is a mountainous and remote district with over 30.1% of population being ethnic minority people and the number of poor and nearly-poor families reaching nearly 24%.
Despite great care from the Party, State, the province, enterprises, individuals and sponsors in assisting poor families and building the rural infrastructure, greater assistance is still needed to boost sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development./.
