The “Yen Tu heritage - Touching the land of legacy” marathon returns for its second edition on November 15-16, promising to welcome thousands of runners from across Vietnam and around the world.
This unique event offers participants an unforgettable blend of sporting spirit and spiritual discovery, set amidst the sacred forests and misty peaks of Yen Tu mountain.
This marathon is part of a series of events under the Yen Tu Autumn Festival 2025, themed “Meditative autumn hues” which was launched on October 5. The festival invites visitors to embrace the tranquil beauty of Yen Tu’s autumn landscape, immerse themselves in the spiritual essence of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism, and honor the rich cultural and historical heritage of a land long revered as “The fourth blessed land of Giao Chau.
Previously, a marathon named Yen Tu Ultra Trail was held in Yen Tu in September, which drew over 1,000 domestic and international athletes, further affirming Yen Tu’s growing reputation as a premier destination for heritage-based sports tourism.
Steeped in centuries of history, Yen Tu mountain is regarded as the spiritual cradle of Vietnamese Buddhism where King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong practiced meditation and founded the Truc Lam Zen sect, symbolizing harmony, compassion, and enlightenment deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.
On July 12, 2025, the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac complex was officially recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. This global honor celebrates the enduring legacy and spiritual significance of Yen Tu, elevating it as a timeless treasure on the world’s cultural map.
