In early February, Sun Travel Company, in coordination with several partners from South Korea organised a large-scale golf tournament with the participation of 150 golfers and tourists. This was also one of the largest golf tour groups to visit Quang Ninh since the beginning of the year. During their week-long stay, the group stayed at several five-star hotels and resorts while competing at Tuan Chau Golf Course and FLC Ha Long Golf Club. They also visitedwell-known attractions such as Ha Long Bay and the Quang Ninh Museum, exploring local culture and cuisine…

Kim Heon Joong, the company’s director, said that his firm has been bringing Korean tourists to Quang Ninh for many years. In addition to traditional sightseeing tours, the company has expanded its market to include golf enthusiasts and has received encouraging responses. As the golf tourism season is now underway, more Korean golf tour groups are expected to visit Quang Ninh in the coming months.

From late September 2026 to early April 2027, the cool climate is considered a “golden period” for golf and golf tourism, especially as it coincides with the peak season for exchange tournaments among golf clubs and groups. During this time, most golf courses in Quang Ninh will operate at high capacity. Players come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from international visitors from Taiwan, China, South Korea… to domestic golfers.

Nguyen Huu Thuy, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Golf Association and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Golf Association, noted that Quang Ninh’s distinctive advantage lies in its ability to combine golf with heritage experiences. The province is home to two world heritage sites, alongside a system of notable scenic landscapes and distinctive local culture.

With the goal of becoming one of northern Viet Nam’s leading golf tourism centres, attracting both domestic and international visitors, Quang Ninh has oriented the development of golf courses in line with the province’s overall planning and local development plans. The province currently has four international-standard golf courses: FLC Ha Long, Tuan Chau, Vinh Thuan and Silk Path Dong Trieu. Additional courses in Quang Hanh and Uong Bi are under construction.

Under the Prime Minister’s Decision approving the Quang Ninh Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050, the province is planned to develop 22 golf courses in its major tourism centres, with a view to forming a network of international standard golf facilities. This is regarded as an important foundation for developing golf tourism - a segment associated with high-end leisure travel, longer stays and higher visitor spending.
