During the three-day programme, participants engaged in a wide range of activities showcasing the cultural identity of highland communities. In Ban Cau village (Luc Hon Commune), the group visited traditional houses and experienced making five-colour sticky rice and weaving bamboo trays. In Khe Tien hamlet (Hoanh Mo Commune), visitors joined local residents on a trekking route through ancient tea forests, learned about medicinal plants, experienced star anise harvesting, and cooc mo cake wrapping. The itinerary also included herbal foot bathing and participation in preparing a traditional evening meal with local households. The tour further featured trekking along the “Dinosaur Spine” ridge and exploring daily life at Binh Lieu market.

This marked the fifth field visit by Japanese experts to the communes which are a as part of the project “Enhancing the capacity of ethnic minority communities to participate in tourism development activities in Binh Lieu, Luc Hon and Hoanh Mo communes, Quang Ninh,” funded by a non-refundable grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and managed by Quang Ninh’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Following this programme, the Japanese expert delegation will conduct a project review and hold a working session with Quang Ninh authorities in June 2026.
